The date is now: The 1st of december, 2004.
This entire plan started a long time ago, though i never knew how it would come
out in the end.
Well, the vacation in November this year brought me the answer. After only one
day in Hardbakke (Solund) My girlfriend (Marion ) and i fell in love with these islands. The next day we visited a shipyard,
Solund Verft, were they told us they need people, mechanics especially.
And, as me being a mechanic, i would make a nice candidate eh?
But the final desicion was made back home, when i heard that i would loose my
job at the end of april next year. So i contacted the mayer of Solund (Gunn, who i already knew, and introduced us to Solund)
and the shipyard. They both sounded enthousiast about my plans, so the planning continued till this day.
The next move will be to visit those people as soon as i can (probably somewhere
in January) and discuss further details then.
I`ll let you know when that time has arrived, or if something important happens
inbetween...

Hey there, its been a while, but i`m back!
We went to Hardbakke this month and most of the things are arranged now, got in contact
with the owner of the shipyard today about the rent of my house and that sounds really fair to me.
As i told, this january we visited Solund and Bergen again, and we felt at home at
once. It`s nice to feel such a thing in a strange country, but a bit confusing too, to leave one country where you feel at
home and go home to your "own" country.
But maybe thats us ;).
Anyway, i cant wait till may, the first week of that month i will set off to Norway, and
start a new job there.

Yesterday i got a letter from my boss (the one i`m about leave..) my last day at the KLM is now officially on the 27th of
April. A minor problem is still present: A car to drive to Norway. My old Hyundai broke down a couple of weeks ago, and probably
can not be prepared. So thats my next goal: Arrange a new car before i leave (for now we want to leave at the 28th of April).

Hey, hello! I`m back in Holland again. I KNOW I KNOW! I should`ve kept this site updated, but there was such poor internet
access on the spot where i lived, that it simply wasnt possible to do this. I`m real sorry about that.
Anyway, i had a great time there, and there are already plans to go back for the summer. Probably i start working then
in an hotel/bar/restaurant also in Hardbakke: http://www.solund.com
This will be only for a couple of months unfortunatly, just as long as there are tourists to feed ;)
But the most important thing is, that my stay in Norway was such a great experience, that we descided to continue our
plans, and an emigration to Norway is now for real.
Marion started her study at the VU in Amsterdam 6 months ago, and when she`s finished with that, we will pack our stuff,
cats and instruments and head for the North.
