Real fans might recognize this quote from the H.G. Wells` book,
The War Of The Worlds. One of the best musicals ever written was based on this book, and carried the same name, The War of
The Worlds, by Jeff Wayne. I descided a long time ago, to
start my own musical, only based on my own story. And i finally found the inspiration to do this during my six month stay
in Solund, Norway. The Solundeer will be a musical, in wich the story will mainly be told by the songs, but a spoken text
will inbetween or during the songs tell the story as well. I cant tell you much about the story yet, simply because it aint
completely finished yet but the main is story is finished, i only have to work on the details. Roughly told, it will be story
about a young boy who makes his journey through the four elements of nature; earth, air, fire and water.
The main task is now to write the
songs that are left, finish the text for the voice-over and find a person who wants to do the voice-over. Here`s the track
list so far (but the list and the the titles change every week a little, so its definitly not final)
Part1
Ouverture The School The lighthouse The encounter Inside the lighthouse
Part
2
The house of three Inside
the house of three Water Air Earth The lighthouse Fire Home
The
Solundeer will carry out my feelings towards the nature on the island Solund, mainly rocks and a rough environment, but still
represented by the beauty of nature in all its aspects. So the music will be classical, mixed with electronic synthesizers,
and acoustic guitar. As soon as there`s more to tell, i will let you know on this page, or on my MSN weblog.
Kind regards,
Daan Smit, 1849AD.

Worked a little on one of the final songs, the lighthouse-main
theme. I descided to add an electric guitar and some breakbeats to give the whole song a bit more of a "punch". The good news
is, its downloadable! Just click the link below this text, and let me know what you think of it.
Greetz!

Finished the song for the element fire. This is now mostly a hardrock, heavy metal sound. I`m not sure
if its a keeper, its very different from the rest of the musical, but its works great representing "fire" in music. Ah well,
i`ll leave it for a while. Make a final descision later... ;)
